Choosing your tagging guns and attachments

Choosing your tagging guns and attachments

First choose the right gauge to suit your fabric, then select tagging gun and attachments in the same gauge.

The brand may not be important to you whereas strength, colour, length and price probably will be.

Choosing your tagging gun

Which model?

It's all about ease of use - simply choose the mechanism that suits you best, use our guide below to help you make the right choice:

Mk3 guns (use Mk2 Needle System)

The latest ergonomically designed guns with ratchet feed systems resulting in fewer jams, smoother handling and the ability to accept Micro-Pitch AND ordinary attachments.

Mk2 guns (Needle System with built-in blade)

MkZ guns use needles with an integral cutting blade built into the shaft which separates attachments in one smooth action.

Mk2 needles are quicker and easier to change.

Mk1 guns- (Needle System with separate blade)

The original needle system with a separate cutting blade.

Not the latest technology, perhaps, but highly popular, with the benefit of being able to replace cutting blades cheaply. Tried and tested

We also stock guns for specialist functions:

Micro-pitch compatibility

Only relevant for bulk factory production. Gu taking Micro-Pitch are multi-purpose as they accept ALL standard gauge attachments as

Long-needle guns

For use with thick fabrics or several layers they accept ALL standard gauge attachments but will need a long length needle.

Specialist guns

Some guns are designed to handle very specific tasks. If you can't find what you need, we may be able to accommodate your requirements as a special order – get in touch here.

Choosing your tagging gun attachments

Check out these selection guides we made for standard, fine and micro-pitch attachments, or read the below for further detail ->

Standard or fine?

Most people use standard attachments as they are thicker, stronger and ideal for most uses. You only need to use Fine Attachments for delicate fabric as they leave a smaller hole.

Fine gauge guns:

For use on finer, delicate fabrics and for heavy weave material such as denim

Standard gauge guns:

For everyday use on a wide range of fabrics.

Which gauge do I need?

Attachments will only work in a gun of the same gauge; therefore, fine gauge guns will only work with fine gauge attachments and the same is true for standard.

FAQ’S about tagging gun attachments

What length of attachment should I use?

Choose a length that displays your ticket in a prominent position.

We stock lengths from 7mm up to 125mm (4" to 5"). With bulky items you'll need to use a long needle and gun.

Which quality - nylon or polypropylene?

A simple choice of strength and cost. For strength choose Nylon, for economy choose Polypropylene. For tough fabrics, leather and carpet use super heavy-duty nylon.

Micro-pitch for bulk production

Developed for fast, tangle-free, bulk production with 100 to a strip, instead of the usual 50. Halves the time and effort spent reloading.

Special colours & hand applied fasteners

•    Most attachments are natural in colour, with a 'paddle' at one end.
•    We also stock Coloured, T-End and Hook attachments.
•    For bags and accessories use hand-applied fasteners in lengths from 7cm to 36cm (3" to 14").
•    Fixed loop fasteners are ideal for attaching tickets to handles or buttonholes.
•    Adjustable loop fasteners can be drawn tight to fix tickets to items such as umbrellas.
